The Association patronale des entreprises en construction du Québec (APECQ) welcomes the appointment of Audrey Murray as head of the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ).

His eloquent track record will enable him to make a concrete contribution to the various projects currently underway in our industry. His appointment comes at an opportune time, as the Minister of Labour, Mr. Jean Boulet, will be presenting a major reform of the industry this autumn, which will notably affect multi-skilling and training.

"Having worked at the CCQ for several years, she is already familiar with the realities of construction, and will be able to dive straight into the important issues facing our industry. Ms. Murray has all the necessary qualifications to support the various stakeholders in bringing this reform to a successful conclusion," says Alain Deschamps, APECQ General Manager.

APECQ's close collaboration with various ministries and partners in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors means that the following solutions are at the heart of our approach:

• Promote the decompartmentalization of professions;
• Remove barriers to inter-regional worker mobility;
• Accelerate recognition of foreign workers' prior learning;
• Encourage our young people to take up the various construction trades;
• Keep an eye on opportunities for automation, prefabrication and innovation;
• Building more, better and sustainably.
